Energy isn’t just something we have, it’s something we choose

A Snapshot of All Things #NRG

This week has been a powerful reminder that energy isn’t just something we have, it’s something we choose. And when you really notice it, you see it everywhere.

The Weekly Debrief

It’s been a week of movement, quite literally. I’ve been travelling, popping back to Cardiff for a charity event, and in between, finding pockets of time to enjoy the journey itself. One highlight was walking across Paris on a perfect spring day, about an hour of wandering, taking in the architecture, the atmosphere, and reminding myself how much I love to walk.

Midweek, I worked from home and caught up with friends over lunch and dinner, and honestly, this is where the real #NRG showed up. One friend is recovering from a serious illness, and I can safely say I’ve never laughed so much. Her stories had us in stitches for over an hour. But more than that, her outlook is incredible. She’s now grabbing life with both hands and saying yes to everything (including those slightly mad, extreme day trips!).

Another friend, facing her own personal challenges, has that same unstoppable mindset, practical, positive, and convinced she can fix anything she turns her hand to. Being around both of them was a masterclass in attitude and resilience.

Friday took me to the Women in Wales charity lunch. I donated a stay at the gîte (very much part of why we created it, to share it), and somehow that turned into two weekends and £1,800 raised. A brilliant result and a lovely reminder that small contributions can create real impact.

The Week Ahead

This week, we’re welcoming family, hubby’s mum and dad are coming to stay for 10 days. Alongside work, it’s a chance to slow down a little and enjoy sharing our French retreat with them and their friends. We’ve got plans for Paris, a boat trip, and no doubt plenty of good food along the way. A different pace, but the same intention to be present and make the most of it.

Lessons Learnt

If this week has reinforced anything, it’s that life is a journey, and like any journey, it’s not always smooth, predictable, or comfortable. But what really matters is how you choose to experience it.

You can see it in the energy of a city, in long travel days, in the generosity of a room full of people, but most powerfully, you see it in people. The ones who face adversity and still find joy. The ones who choose laughter, positivity, and action, even when things aren’t easy.

A good reminder that we don’t always control what happens, but we do control how we show up.

Here’s to choosing the right kind of energy, wherever the journey takes you. Just the right dose of #NRG.
