#WeeklyNRG – A Snapshot of All Things #NRG
This week’s theme? Another year older, a little clearer — and ready for the September reset. Birthdays can be noisy, busy and full of plans, but this year I spent mine home alone in France. And, honestly, it was rather brilliant.
There was walking, sewing, charity-shop wandering, fizz, and time to sit with a good book. No rushing, no over-planning and, importantly, no laptop constantly calling my name. The fresh air and headspace from a long walk did me wonders. Sometimes switching off the phone and stepping away from the screen is exactly what is needed to hear your own thoughts again.

Kyle may have been away, but he had still managed to create birthday surprises from a distance. A birthday cake was waiting for me at the local baker’s, along with a couple of perfect presents. Thoughtful, unexpected and a lovely reminder that even a day on your own does not mean you are alone.

The day gave me time to think about what I want for the future — not in a dramatic “reinvent everything by Monday” way, but in a calmer, more honest one. What do I want more of? What gives me energy? What am I doing simply because I have always done it? And where do I need to create more space for the people, experiences and work that really matter?
As September approaches, I always get that familiar back-to-school feeling: new notebooks, fresh focus and the chance to begin again — even if, technically, there is no school uniform involved. This week I’ll be getting myself ready for that restart: reviewing priorities, getting organised and bringing a little more intention to the diary before it fills itself.
A closing thought:
Another year older does not need to mean having all the answers. But it can be a useful prompt to pause, celebrate what is already good, and get a little clearer about what comes next. Here’s to fresh air, birthday fizz, thoughtful surprises and the September reset. Just the right dose of #NRG.
